Review: Lifeblood (Everlife #2)

Lifeblood (Everlife, #2)Lifeblood by Gena Showalter

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5/5 stars.

At first, I didn’t like the introduction to book 2 of this series. I really miss Archer. I didn’t like Killian that much from the first book. Which sucks since he gets a stronger spotlight in this book. It took me a week to listen– this book suffers Middle Book Syndrome. But if you persevere, you find this is an incredibly original and intriguing story for dystopian YA books.

Killian is boring as hell. He’s smart for not throwing all of his commitments away for the sake of his girlfriend, Ten, but also: just like the last book; their indecisiveness turns to a drag. Since they barely cared about aspects of their lives; why should we?

The writing makes me you second guess every character, including Ten (the protag). I think the author did a great job in getting us to constantly question the characters; this book is perfect for you if you enjoy double agents and spies, but also fallen angels and dystopians. I know– weird combo, right? It works, trust me. The world Showalter has created is a masterpiece!

Keeps you on your toes. I started the book to know how Ten survives after choosing which realm to side with; but I stayed for the outcome of so many side-characters like Levi and Diaz.

Was another cliff-hanger, but not as pain-staking as the first book. I’m excited to read the ending of this trilogy next year! 🙂
